Yes. Disc Makers can manufacture CDs and vinyl records containing AI-generated or AI-assisted music, provided you have the right to reproduce, distribute, and sell everything included in your project.
Using an AI music platform does not automatically mean you own the music or have permission to use it commercially. Before submitting your project, review the platform’s terms and confirm that your license allows:
- Commercial use
- Reproduction on CDs or vinyl
- Sale and distribution of physical copies
- Use of any generated music, lyrics, vocals, or artwork
- Continued use after your subscription ends, if applicable
Keep a copy of the terms or commercial-use license that applied when the content was created.
Can AI-generated music be copyrighted?
Under current U.S. Copyright Office guidance, copyright generally requires human authorship. Music created entirely by AI may not qualify for copyright protection.
However, human-created parts of an AI-assisted project may still be protected, including:
- Original lyrics or melodies
- Human vocals or performances
- Creative arrangements
- Substantial editing or production
- Original mixing or other creative contributions
Copyright eligibility depends on how much human creative control was involved.
Can I use an AI-generated or cloned voice?
Be careful when using a voice that sounds like a real singer, celebrity, or other person.
A license from an AI platform may not give you permission to use someone else’s voice, name, likeness, or identity. Do not imply that a real artist performed on or endorsed your project unless you have permission.
What if the AI music contains samples or copyrighted material?
You are responsible for reviewing the finished music and securing any necessary licenses.
AI-generated music may still contain recognizable melodies, lyrics, samples, recordings, or voices owned by someone else. Using AI to remix or transform copyrighted material does not automatically remove the original owner’s rights.
If your project includes samples, cover songs, or other third-party content, additional licensing may be required.
What documentation should I keep?
Keep records showing how the music was created and what rights you received, including:
- The AI platform used
- Your subscription level
- Proof of payment
- The applicable commercial-use terms
- Prompts or generation history
- Project files
- Records of your human creative contributions
- Licenses for any samples, cover songs, or uploaded content
Disc Makers may request documentation if ownership or licensing is unclear.
Can Disc Makers decline an AI-generated project?
Disc Makers assumes that customers have the necessary rights to manufacture the content they submit. However, we may request additional documentation, place a project on hold, or decline to manufacture content that may violate intellectual property rights or our Content Policy.
AI-generated music is subject to the same copyright, licensing, and content requirements as any other project.
Before submitting your project
Confirm that:
- Your AI plan allows commercial use
- Physical manufacturing is permitted
- You saved the applicable license
- You own or have licensed all uploaded content
- The music does not contain unauthorized samples
- You have permission for any cloned voice
- Your artwork and marketing do not imply false artist involvement
